 FAQ

What is intersectionality? -- Picture a venn diagram. Each circle in the diagram represents an identity -- gender, sexuality, race, religion, and so on. The place where those circles overlap represents intersectionality. Intersectionality often explores how oppressive forces shape us, as well as how individual experience within a community can be nuanced.

I’m not a minority student. Can I still submit my work? -- Yes. We welcome work from anyone, no matter how you identify. Whether you’re a photographer, a lacrosse player, a guitarist, or any combination of the above, we want to hear your voice.

Does my work have to be about myself? -- No.

What is mixed genre writing? -- Mixed genre work includes more than one genre in a submission, such as a collection of poetry and fiction.

What is hybrid writing? -- Hybrid work blurs the division between genres, for example, a collection of lyric essays.

Can I include original art or photography in my submission? -- Yes, but the editors have editorial discretion on inclusion and placement.

What should I include in my bio? -- Your bio should be no more than fifty words long, including your name, major(s), graduation year, and a fun fact about yourself.

Can I submit multiple manuscripts? -- Yes.

Where do I submit my work? -- Submit all works to coronapress2017@gmail.com.

When is the submission deadline? -- October 8th, midnight.

What happens to my work after I submit it? -- Your work will be read by a team of editors in rounds. During the first two rounds, the work remains anonymous. Only after the third round will we know the identities of the authors to ensure that we do not publish two chapbooks by the same author. We are dedicated to finding the highest quality work regardless of year or major.

When should I hear back from Corona Press about the status of my submission? -- Around October 19th.

How can I keep in touch with Corona Press? -- We have an Instagram (@coronapress), Twitter (@PressCorona), Facebook, and a website (link needed). If you have any specific questions, reach out to any member of our editorial team. You can find our names on the masthead on our website.
